# Idempotency key reused

> What the `idempotency_key_reused` error means and what to do next.

The API, CLI and MCP return `idempotency_key_reused` with HTTP 409. Repeating the same request unchanged does not help.

## What to do

This key was already used for a request with different arguments or from another login. To repeat that original request, send exactly its original arguments with this key from the same login; for a new request, use a new key. Never pair a new key with a request whose first attempt had an uncertain outcome: read its result first.
