# Domain hostname taken

> What the `domain_hostname_taken` error means and what to do next.

The API, CLI and MCP return `domain_hostname_taken` with HTTP 409. Repeating the same request unchanged does not help.

## What to do

A live project connection already holds this hostname. Remove it from the project you manage with 'ohmyhost domain paid delete --project ULID --hostname HOST --yes --json', then apply it to the new project. Repeating while that connection remains cannot work; report the request\_id if you cannot manage its owning project.
